Who we are
Providence Baptist Chapel is a Reformed Baptist church in Cheltenham. We gather to glorify God through biblical preaching, reverent worship and prayer, and by making known the good news of Jesus Christ.

We believe the Bible is God’s Word and the final authority for Christian faith and life. It shows us who God is, our need of forgiveness, and the salvation he gives through Jesus Christ. Forgiveness and new life are gifts of God’s grace, received through repentance and faith in Christ, whose death and resurrection are at the heart of the good news we proclaim.
As Reformed Baptists, we belong to a historic Christian tradition shaped by Scripture’s teaching about God, salvation and the local church. Our confessional identity is expressed in the Second London Baptist Confession of Faith (1689), a summary of doctrine we believe Scripture teaches. We seek to explain the Bible and apply its truth to heart and life through preaching, worship and prayer.
People of different ages, backgrounds and nationalities are united here by faith in Jesus Christ. We meet as a local congregation to hear the Bible preached, sing Psalms and biblical hymns, and worship and pray together. These shared practices shape ordinary church life in Cheltenham. New visitors are welcome to meet us and ask questions about what Christians believe and what church life is like.
